Description
The Gloster Meteor F.8 Ground Attack Fighter proposal (unofficially named Reaper) was a private venture variant of the Meteor with enhanced ground attack capability.
The Reaper would have been fitting with a strengthened wing with capability to carry 1000 lb bombs or rockets on the outboard wings or centre section. Fixed wing tip mounted fuel tanks were added, freeing up the belly tank location for bomb or rocket provision. A single prototype flew in this configuration initial registered G-AMCF and later as G-7-1. No orders were forthcoming.
This resin conversion set is designed for use with the Airfix Meteor F.8/FR.9 boxing, and includes wing pylons and 1000 lb bombs, tip tanks, a template for mounting kit provided rocket pylons and an optional arrestor hook (mentioned in promotional material for the Reaper). This set represents a What-If of the Reaper should it have entered service with the RAF or export customers. No decals are included.
