Description

Resin cast conversion set for the Revell 1/72 Hawk T.1 base kit (not included). This conversion allows you to make the original Hawk T.2 proposal from 1975, giving the RAF a combat capable Hawk should the Cold War have got hot. Modifications included the upgrade of the RAF T.1 to export Mk.50 standard, with the addition of an extended tailpipe to reduce the risk from shoulder mounted missiles on the battlefield. The project was postponed and never taken up. Most of the modifications were later adopted in the T.1A upgrade program from 1983 onwards.

In addition this set includes four BAC Sabre missiles with twin launch rails, this was also a paper project. The Sabre was developed in the mid 1970s from the Rapier as a laser guided anti-tank weapon but did not enter service.

Although designed to fit the Revell Hawk base kit, this set can also be used on the Airfix kit with minor adjustments. Image shows built up model by Colin Pickett, as featured in SAM May 2023 issue.
